The SAT consists of three main sections: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW), Mathematics, and an optional Essay.
The total SAT score ranges from 400 to 1600, combining scores from the EBRW and Math sections. Each section is scored on a scale of 200 to 800. The optional essay is scored separately on a scale from 6 to 24.
Without the essay, the SAT takes about 3 hours. With the essay, the total test time is approximately 3 hours and 50 minutes.
