The TOEFL TEST FORMAT

Toefl exam format typically consists of four main sections:

Which is the best TOEFL exam for me?

Real classroom experience: It measures all four language skills- reading, listening, speaking, and writing- — the way they are actually used in a classroom.
 
SDS Canada Application: From August 10, 2023, you can use TOEFL scores to apply for SDS study visa applications to Canada.
 
Test Duration: Approximately 2 hours but you should plan for 2.5 hours, allowing 30 minutes for check in.
 
Score Reporting Dates: Quick results (unofficial Reading and Listening scores at the end of your test), and official scores within 4–8 days. Result date will be displayed at the end of your test.
 
MyBest® Scores: Showcast the highest individual scores you achieved in each section from all valid TOEFL iBT test attempts within the past two years.
 
Accepted by: Accepted by more than 12,500 universities and other institutions in over 160 countries.

The TOEFL® EssentialsTM Test is a newer offering from ETS, designed to be a faster, more convenient, and potentially more affordable alternative to the traditional TOEFL iBT® Test for assessing English language proficiency.

Not universally accepted: While gaining traction, all institutions haven’t yet accepted the TOEFL EssentialsTM Test.

The New Canada-approved test for Work and Migration

Designed specifically for young learners aged 8 and above who are starting their English language learning journey.

 

 

Test is primarily used for internal assessment and guidance within schools.

 

The TOEFL Junior Tests are designed to measure the English language skills of young learners, generally ages 11 and up.

The TOEFL ITP Assessment Series is a leading English-proficiency testing program for ages 16+ that allows you to measure and evaluate your students’ English-language skills with confidence.

Different between Toefl (IBT) and Toefl (PBT)

TOEFL IBT (Internet Based Test)

This is the most common format, and it is conducted online. It includes all four sections: Reading, Listening, Speaking, and Writing.

TOEFL PBT (Paper Based Test)

This format is less common and is offered in areas where the internet-based test is not available. It includes the Reading, Listening, and Writing sections, with the Speaking section assessed separately.
