Schedule a visa interview at the U.S. embassy or consulate in your home country. It’s advisable to schedule this well in advance of your intended travel date.

Attend the scheduled visa interview. Be prepared to discuss your educational background, your chosen program, your plans after completing your studies, and your financial ability to support yourself.
Following the interview, the consular officer will make a decision on your visa application. If approved, they will issue the F-1 visa on your passport.
Some students may need to pay the SEVIS fee again after visa approval. Check the guidelines provided by the U.S. embassy or consulate.
Once you have the F-1 visa, you can make travel arrangements to the United States. Remember to carry all relevant documents, including your Form I-20, passport, and visa, in your carry-on luggage.
Upon arrival, go through the port of entry procedures. The Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer will issue an I-94 form, indicating your authorized period of stay.
